…and those that just like cute shoes!
One of my ongoing fashion struggles is shoes. Unlike many women, I do not love shoe shopping. You know that part in the movie (and book – I loved the book!) ‘In Her Shoes’ where Rose (Toni Colette) says, “I get something out of them! When I feel bad I like to treat myself. Clothes never look any good…food just makes me fatter…shoes always fit.”? I feel the opposite about shoes.
Summer is a time of strappy sandals and cute pedicures. As much as I like to look at them, strappy sandals are not approved by my doctor and especially not by my orthotics guy. In fact, I had never owned a pair of sandals until this spring. I ended up getting some because I was getting my second-ever pedicure. This was because at my first pedicure I had to walk out to my car, sans shoes, in November. I had never tried pedicures before because A) my feet and legs don’t show much and B) my feet don’t have feeling. I figured my money and time were better spent elsewhere. Pedicures seemed like such a fun female bonding ritual and I LOVE going to the spa, so I was sad that pedicures weren’t for me.
My first ever sandals. I do think these are super cute. Since they really aren’t the best for my feet, I only wear them to pedicures. So if you are also a fan and want to help me give these shoes some wear – let’s go!
Summer Shoe Picks
As my website title indicates, High Heels (or in this case strappy sandals) are not required, so I wanted to highlight the shoes I am rocking this summer. Even if you ARE rocking strappy sandals, you can’t go wrong with my HHNR summer shoe picks!
I love the preppy look of Sperry top siders. I wear them when I don’t want to go into full dress-shoe mode. They are the perfect middle ground for summer.
My go-to casual shoes for summer are bright white sneakers. I love them with shorts and I think they look great with white jeans, another summer staple for me. I have been wearing them pretty much any time I am not at work. Plus the occasional casual Friday!
